Wireless & Hardwired Systems
Your new MYTECH system will be designed using devices that are either wireless, hardwire or a combination of both. What determines which type of system to install usually depends on the construction of your home or business. The choice of installing a wireless or hardwired system in installations where either type of protection can be used is of course always the customer’s preference.
WIRELESS vs. HARDWIRE
Both wireless and hardwire systems consist of a central control box. This is where all wiring to your protection devices, keypads, and phone connections are terminated. The difference between the two systems is how the central control receives the information from your protection devices. On a hardwired system a cable is installed from each unit of protection back to the central control. Information from that device is now received by signals transmitted through the cable. A hardwired system will take longer to install than a wireless, but is a very low maintenance system.
Wireless systems transmit information from a protection device to the central control by way of RF (radio frequency). Instead of running a cable to each device a RF transmitter is installed at each door and window. Motion, glass and smoke detectors will have RF transmitters embedded in the unit. Wireless systems take about half the time to install than hardwire, but is a higher maintenance system.
